Nettoyage Intérieur Complet de votre Voiture : Le Guide Étape par Étape

Complete Interior Cleaning of Your Car: The Step-by-Step Guide

We often focus on the shine of the exterior, but it's inside our car that we spend the most time. A clean, healthy, and well-maintained interior transforms every journey into a more pleasant experience. Dust, crumbs, stains on the seats, dull plastics... It's time to give your interior the attention it deserves.
This guide details the professional, simple and effective method for a complete interior cleaning.

Step 0: Preparation, the Key to Efficiency

Even before touching a product, good preparation will save you valuable time.
1. Empty the car completely: Leave absolutely nothing behind. Floor mats, items in door pockets, papers, booster seats... Everything must be removed. It's the only way to access all the nooks and crannies.
2. Take out the floor mats: Shake them vigorously outside, then set them aside. We'll deal with them separately.

Step 1: Vacuuming, Dust Removal

The goal is to remove all loose dirt. A good vacuum cleaner with multiple attachments is your best friend.
The order to follow: Always work from top to bottom . Start with the headliner, the windshield pillars, the dashboard, then the seats, and finally the carpet.
Seats: Use a brush attachment to remove dust from the seams. Don't forget to thoroughly vacuum the joint between the seat and the backrest, a real dust trap.
The carpet: Move the front seats back as far as possible to access the space underneath. Use a stiff (non-metallic) brush to scrub the carpet while vacuuming, in order to loosen ingrained dirt (pet hair, sand, etc.).
Floor mats: Once the carpet is clean, vacuum the floor mats that you had set aside.

Step 2: Cleaning Hard Surfaces (Plastics, Vinyls)

Now that the dust is gone, we move on to deep cleaning the plastics.
What you need:
An all-purpose interior cleaner (APC) or a specific cleaner for plastics.
Several clean microfiber cloths .
A detailing brush or a soft-bristled brush for hard-to-reach areas.
How to proceed:
1. Spray the product onto the microfiber cloth, not onto the surface: This prevents splashing on windows or screens.
2. Clean methodically: Wipe the dashboard, center console, door panels, steering wheel...
3. Use the brush: For air vents, button surrounds, or seams, spray a little product onto the brush and gently brush to remove dirt. Then wipe with a microfiber cloth.
4. Final wiping: Use a second clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove any product residue and achieve a uniform finish.

Pro tip: Don't forget the pedals and footrest, which are often very dirty. A good scrub with your cleaner will restore their original appearance.

Step 3: Cleaning the Seats and Fabrics

The method depends on the type of seats you have.
For fabric seats:
Light stains: Spray with a fabric and carpet cleaner, let it sit for a few moments, then scrub with a textile brush. Absorb the residue by blotting with a clean microfiber cloth.
Deep cleaning: Ideally, use an injection-extraction machine . This machine sprays a cleaning solution deep into the fibers and immediately extracts it along with the dirt. It's the only way to clean heavily soiled or stained fabric.
For leather seats:
Use a specific leather cleaner and a horsehair brush (very soft).
Apply the product to the brush, rub the leather gently without excessive pressure.
Wipe away dirt immediately with a microfiber cloth. Do not allow the product to dry.
Once the leather is clean and dry, apply a leather care cream to nourish it and protect it from drying out and cracking.

Step 4: The Finishing Touches, What Makes the Difference

Windows: Clean all interior glass surfaces with a good glass cleaner and a dedicated microfiber cloth (waffle weave). Don't forget the rearview mirror.
Protecting plastics: After cleaning, apply an interior plastic dressing . This will nourish the plastic, restore its original color (matte or satin, depending on the product), and protect it from UV rays that cause aging and fading. Our is perfect for this task.
The fragrance: A touch of new car interior fragrance is the final signature of a professional job.

Taking the time to thoroughly clean your car's interior isn't just about aesthetics. It's also about hygiene and well-being. By following these steps, you'll rediscover the pleasure of settling into a healthy, clean, and fresh-smelling home.
